History Live! celebrates the humanities in Southwest Colorado with lectures, workshops, and live portrayals of historic figures. Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable is proud to offer a full month of programming each September!

A community hub for creatives across rural Colorado!
Our group embraces the diversity of creativity, recognizing that it extends far beyond traditional artistic mediums. Whether you're a painter, musician, writer, photographer, designer, artisan, or any other kind of creative soul, this is your home.

Take a unique journey through two states, Native American cultures, breathtaking countryside, treaties, and technology, across ancient and historic times, and varied communities of the present day. From the romance of the rails and authentic Native American culture to spectacular scenery and a myriad of recreational opportunities, Colorado’s and New Mexico's newest Byway is a richly layered time capsule offering the back road traveler a comprehensive experience

Free summer art program, including ample studio time, for Native youth in partnership with the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum. This program focuses on the fundamentals of drawing and painting, led by esteemed Native artists, culminating in a student show held at the annual Pino Nuche Art Market, and a silent auction to offer students a chance to sell their work. Stay tuned for future programming!

Museums on Mainstreet engages small town communities through educational resources and programming to become a catalyst for conversations. Colorado Humanities tour "Crossroads: Change in Rural America", a Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street (MoMS) Comes to Ignacio April 2024.

Your TAX - DEDUCTABLE donations help the ICD beautify the Ignacio community, create a collaborative cultural vision, diversify our local economy, advocate for funding the arts, attract creative entrepreneurs to our community, celebrate and strengthen our unique identity, and enhance our local quality of life. In addition, we are actively seeking grant funding for our community in partnership with the Town of Ignacio, La Plata County, State and other resources.
